Background--

I just purchased a Hewlett-Packard 6200C scanner, made for USB connectivity.

I needed to add a USB port to my Dell P2 266, so I bought and installed an SIIG USB dual port PCI card. At the same time, I bought and upgraded to Win '98 from Win '95. The OS detected the card, and installed the driver from the Win '98 expansion disk. The card shows up properly in the Windows device manager. So far so good.

Problem --
The computer does not recognize the HP scanner.

I called HP tech support, who walked me through a diagnostic that revealed I have a PIIX 3 driver for the USB card. HP tech support tells me I need a PIIX 4 driver, and suggested I contact the USB card manufacturer (SIIG) for this driver.

I have contacted SIIG, and am awaiting a response from them. I am a bit puzzled though, as the driver (PIIX 3) that I do have came off the WIN '98 upgrade CD.

Question--
Where can I get this PIIX 4 driver? Is this really what I need? Was the HP tech support guy just blowing me off?

Many thanks in advance.
