Resolved [RESOLVED] usb for window 95 (B)

    I have windows 95 (B). I also have a usb
port. The usb port is not installed. I
do not see it in the device manager. How
can I load the usb without updating to
windows 98? I am not real good with this
sort of thing so I need step by step
information. I am becoming very frustrated
Any help would be greatly appreciated. (I
just got a Quickcam that cannot be returned
because it was purchased out of state at
a store that is not around my area). Also,
about 8 months ago I purchased this computer
with no operating system (a swap meet type
thing). It has the usb port, but I had
a company install everything for me. He
did not activate the usb (I have long
since moved) and I have not needed it until
now. Thanks for the help in advance.

    Jason

First edit you cmos and turn usb on. Then windows might find it but don't count on it. Then go to microsoft.com annd download the usb support for win95. Check you cd-rom it might even be on there.

Think about it, but not to hard, wouldn't want to give you a headache.

Sorry here's the step by step.

    1. When starting up your computer hold the del key to get into the setup.

    2. Go to PNP and PCI setup

    3. Find the usb and change it to enabled.

    4. Next save the cmos and exit.

    5. Finish starting up windows.

    6. Windows might find it and install it then, but don't count on it.

    7. If windows doesn't find it do a hardware search from the control panel.

    8. It should find the usb and install it but it my not find the drivers. That's when you need to search the cd-rom for the usb support or get it off microsoft.com

    9. After you install the usb support everything "should" work fine.
