[RESOLVED] Systray crashes before system shutdown/reboot
Just a few days after reinstalling a new/fresh Win98 se, I have ever since a error message during shutdown/reboot in the systray.exe it causes an illegal page error and a stack error. If I start my PC and reboot or shut down immediatly there seems to be no problem, my guess is that in combination with IE (5.5) systray just cant handle. I tried reinstalling systray and the only option right now is disable systray in the msconfig or install 98 once again...
I did not use any new soundcard what so ever and never had this problem before w/ same configuration....
Please help me on this one..
thanx
Michel

Maybe you had a bad install , I would back up your importen stuff and then zero fill the drive since formatting does not erase the data it just rewrites the FAT after it veries the disk space ( I started formating from my boot disk and at 50% done I hit cntrl alt delete to reboot and Windows was still there intact )
I wish I knew a command to force format to format and not just verify then rewrite the fat
Just look for the maker of your hard drive site and looke for any utilities for wiping that drive
Maybe whem you installed Windows picked up soemthing from the old data which was still there, I reinstalled Windows and Norton frash and when I selected custom install all the things I do not install were already unchecked, Kind of Spooky eh
Example I have a Quantuk drive so I go to their site and download their version of disk manager , I make a boot disk and boot off of that and follow the menues
I know it is a pain but it sounds like your problems have started with the fresh install so .....

Format c reboot,reboot,reboor,reboot )
Format c I'm givin er all she's got cap'in !!! )
