Windows 9x / Me boot sequence

I am trying to find detailed information about windows boot sequence / procedure, can anybody tell me where to find this please ??
Also why oh why can't Win Me and Win 2K run on the same system (using bootmagic / System Commander dual boot) ??

WinME & Win2k Pro can work on teh same partition as dual booted systems. I know this as I am doing it at home. Install ME first then install Win2k afterwoulds to a different folder obviously. Next time you reboot you will have the boot menu show up asking which O/S you want to use. Simple as that. I don't use none of the 3rd Party boot loaders as the one that is 'supplied' by Micro$oft is fine (as long as you are only using M$ O/S's).

Apparently both Win Me AND Win 2K do some pretty low level partition / OS checking and it's nigh on impossible for them to work on the same machine. I've tried installing one then the other and vice versa, i've also tried making a second, hidden partition, still no dice. I have spent pretty well 48 hours on this problem and i'm (nearly) at the end of my short tether. Thanks for the reply anyway. Nice to hear from you, i've heard a lot about you !?!?!

They do run together, accourding to MS any two MSOS's can not be on the same drive as they become corrupt as time passes, but what do MS know?
Anyway what I did was:
FDISK the drive, partition the drive, install ME on 'C:' and 2k on 'D:'. Let the 2k boot manger control the boot, but then changed to the BeOS boot-manager. I got rid of 2k after a month anyway! But it did work, honest!

And....what kind of boot info? Are we talking right from IO.sys to the start up items?

Like I have stated I have both Win2kpro and WinMe on teh same partition dual booting. Every time I have done this procedure it has gone sweetly with no problems!!! What problems are you having??? As long as you create the partition as FAT (16 or 32) you will be fine and you install the win9x O/S before the NT based O/s. You can do it the other way round (install 2000 first then ME) but after installing ME you will need to run teh win2k setup again to repair the installation so that the boot loader is active.

I never get past the Windows Setup programme,
With Win2K I get a message that " I do not recognise the Mother Operating System", With WinMe I was unpleasantly informed that my partition tables were awry, which they most certainly weren't !
