When my computer boots it starts (wmexe.exe) - winmodem. I shut it off so it doesn't run when i boot and I don't notice a difference. What is it's purpose. Modem behaves the same. Also (cyxid98.exe) starts up and I have shut this off and noticed no change. It is under windows/options/cabs. Does anyone know it's purpose? Should I turn them back on. I would like to know what their purpose is. I shut everything i could off so that my system boots faster.
