How do u boot from cd-rom?
Hi,
Can anyone tell me how to boot from my cd-rom drive? I know it's bootable but don't know how to make it boot from the cd rom. My mobo is a CUV4X, sometime when the system boot up; there's a small gray screen which listed all available options inculding boot from cd rom drive but I don't know how to make that screen appear again. the manual didn't mention anything like nor the bios.
Anyone with the same mobo and know how to boot from cd rom?
thanks in advance

there is usually an option in the bios to set your boot devices i.e.
First boot A
Second boot CD ROM
Third boot ZIP
Forth boot C
Have a look through the setup options it is usually quite apparent which is the relavent item to change, then again not all boards will supply all boot options.

very few cd.s are bootable ,,,,,win95 is not ....win98 (genuine...not copy) is, so is NT4 ,,,my version of NT5 and millenium isnt.
locate a win98 disk (genuine) and set your bios to boot from cd-rom c: a: ,,,,and try that to see if it works.
link to a question RE: creating a bootable cd ... <a href="http://forums.windrivers.com/cgi-bin/forum3/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic;f=33;t=000445" target="_blank">http://forums.windrivers.com/cgi-bin/forum3/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic;f=33;t=000445</a>
note funny things happen with bootable cd,s ie, even tho u have not got a floppy in your drive a: contains autoexec/config and d: contains your progs (on the cd)
PS how do you fix a leak in a sunroof ,on a submerine?

Hi,
I've looked from the bios of my mobo's but can't find the option of booting. On my old MMX system, there's an option to set the bootable drive (a,c or cd-rom) but not on my CUV4X, I'll take another closer look later then.
If you guy want to create bootable cds, some burning progrtam does give you the option to create one. I use WinOnCd and inside there's an option to create a bootable cd. It will ask you to provide a bootable source....I use the bootable win98 floppy disk.
No one cares how hard you worked,
they want result!

Just a note, my (genuine) NT4 workstation CD is bootable... Also, I've booted with a burnt copy of Win98 and SE... depends on how it's copied I guess.
