Having trouble with your VIA chipset and device management? If you have an ATX board try enabling APCI either run setup again adding the switches "/p j" or read this article http://support.microsoft.com/support...G=ENG&SA=ALLKB
This gives you much better control over IRQs and resource allocations, you will need to understand how to access BIOS and change options in that however ------------------ |

Some good information you found there confus-ed. However, it's just safer to disable the apci and any other apm features in the bios settings. That's what I do with every customer computer builds I do. They can use Win 98's own power saving settings without any conflicts between the bios's settings and win98's, except they should be disabled if CD-Burning is involved.

p.s. I also use the latest patches from www.viatech.com for any fixes or performance increases when using motherboards with a via chipset in them in customer's builds.
