For anyone who is trying to set up a network with ADSL or any other fast access dial-up where the ISP uses PPPoE, I figured it out!
After looking for 2 weeks for a software package that would be able to do the Network Address Translation without kicking the ADSL offline, a person that helped devloped PPPoE replied back to me and gave me my answer. Internetshare offers All Aboard; did the job flawlessly and cost less than anything else I tried. Before out commit to a client, make sure you know how the ISP connects the ADSL. If it is a non-static IP, chances are it is PPPoE. Hope this helps somebody not to look like an idiot in front of a client. |

Hello,
I just wanted to comment on the All aboard software.... I've set up a 7 station peer-peer LAN using this software and it was an easy setup. I don't think that it's very secure though (firewalls, etc...). What did you use for security? Carlos |

Why not just use the LINKSYS (BEFSR41) It works with the PPoE using ver. 1.22 firmware
$140 and you have router, switch, firewall. I use it for Cable and have one on ADSL too. just my thoughts. Techno®

I've heard Black ICE is pretty good for security, though I've never used it personally. Otherwise you can use Windows 2000 and set up NAT (network address translation) That helps to hide your machine.
