Yeah, right!!
This has to be the most common and anoying thing.
" I got a quick question for ya "
They are never quick, this is when you know that you are on the phone for 20 minutes.

I know what you mean, I work in a company with 700 pcs and half the people have pcs at home too, so everywhere I walk people say "just the person I wanted to see...." or
"can I just ask you a quick question"...
Doomed.....

Ain't that the truth!
I work with someone at school, and We have to LOCK ourselves in the room so we don't get disturbed.
We only walk down the hall During classes so not to get caught answering questions!
Also The guy I work with MUST use a different measure of time, He says "I'll be back in a few minutes" and 2 hours later he comes running in. One good thing happened though. When they replaced the internal phones they ran out of numbers, so our room didn't get one. That significantly reduced the amount of "I've got a quick question for you" call.
The only thing worse that a "I've got a quick question" call is the "See what you think of this" call.
They call up and say "My printer isen't working", then explain what's wrong. Then say "well I guess I'll just reinstall the driver." before I even say anything!

Here's another one:
"Can you fix my computer? It can't be much".

or the ones that bring in the computer after working on it themselves for three days and expect you to fix it immediately because they have to get the taxes done!!

Or the ones who have been working on the computer there selves and they bring it in in a box because they can't get it back together.
Another one. (I did this). I was working on this computer with a friend. It was the worse case I had ever seen. You had to remove the Power supply to do anything. Any way we had taken it completely apart to get the harddrive out, Then after we put it back together we had At LEAST 10 screws left laying on the table. And to this day I can't find a hole to put them in???

Whatever you do, NEVER, EVER get sucked into going over to someones house! Suddenly you have a annoying, impatient idiot, who expects you to teach them everything you know about computers! They're like "Slow down, I wanna see what you are doing. And "Go over that last thing you did again" Sheesh!

As part of my business, I do house calls. I generally charge double my shop rate for them. If I get one of those "slow down, what are you doing, let me watch" types, the rate just goes up and up.
Two things happen:
If they want me back again next time, they pay.
If they don't want me back next time, they bring it into the shop, and they pay.
Easy huh?

Or it is always great when you are looking at the service order and it say install new harddrive, copy data over and make new drive master. Turn the computer on for that precheck and hear the hard drive make those wonderful sounds of death. Like they thought that installing a new drive would make it all better.
Just for once I would like to go a whole day without turning a computer on and the problem actually being what is on the form.

Or how about those cheap old men, who never upgrade and won't accept the fact that computer models become obsolete in 6 months.
"I bought this game UNReal and/or Quake2 from this store and it dosn't seem to work on my computer, it must be something wrong with the program!" So i do an exchange for the software. Next day, same guy same complaint! "What type of computer you got?" I ask him. "A Pentium 60 with 8 meg ram." he replies. "A PENTIUM 60 WITH 8 MEG RAM!!?" I say. He says "I bought the computer 5 years ago , it should still be good"

I have the same sort of customers who buy a used system from me and expect to run recent games in the highest resoloution without buying anything extra. Also the customers who want the cheapest system ( and pick the cheapest parts ) then complain that it isn't fast enough for them and want a refund stating that they have been ripped off, when they designed the spec themselves!!!!!!
I am going to start charging consultancy fee's if they cary this on and they won't like the £ 80 per hour I'll charge!!!!

Then there's the one where they take five minutes to explain the problem, and it turns out it's not supported.
Our customers occasionally buy from a third party because it's a little bit cheaper, but then forget that we won't support (except for £££'s)

I am so fed up with the people who buy their systems at Best Buy and Circuit City etc and then want me to come and fix them and support them, they ask how much I charge and the price goes up and up because they think its rediculous..ha
