Second IDE port problems on Gateway E-3200
Hello
My shop has gotten in several Gateways and I am unable to get the second IDE port operational in these units. They are PII/300 desktops. Sometimes Gateway's driver is needed but this should not be the case. I have made sure the Phoenix bios shows the drive as auto but this doesn't work. Why?
What am I missing? Is there a Windows setting I should look for?

well you should give some more info - but I'll assume you're using Windows 95 on old Intel 440LX mobos with the CD-ROM set as Secondary Master or nothing connected there.
in Windows device manager you get the yellow "!" on the second IDE.
first do a search in the registry for "noide"
if you find something - kill it .. (as in delete)
a few fixes possible are :
Intel Bridge Fix - For all versions of Windows
and this :
Intel BusMaster IDE driver For Windows 95
and you might try this too (solved the porblem in weird cases) : (only in win95)
