DVD player only works in Windows ME
I have an RM PIII 800 laptop with 128mb RAM, 20gb HDD and an 8X DVD-Rom drive.
The laptop came with Win 98 but when I installed Power DVD it caused the system to freeze whenever I put a DVD in. I Installed Windows ME and the DVD worked fine but old games do not. So last night I setup dual-boot with Win 98 and Win 2000 but 2000 also crashes whenever I try to play a DVD, I installed a WinDVD and the same problem occured. Does anyone know why this might happen? Any way to fix it?
Cheers.

Did you try to (un)check the DMA setting in the DVD properties ?

I tried changing the DMA settings, still no joy, re-instlled Win ME and found it doesn't work there anymore either, CD's and CD-Roms work just fine and it did play DVD's once.
HELP!

I had a Teac DVD which I had to disable the UDMA in the Bios, and ensure that it was set to PIO, as well as switching off the DMA in windows.
Then all I had to do was configure the CD DA as it didn't have sound out!
