Problems reading discs burned on CD-R
After MUCH trial and error I've determined that FACTORY discs read without problem, but discs burned on CD-R can only be read when the planets are lined up just right.
Same discs work fine on any other machine... this machine wants to start up CDPlayer applet.
DETAILS:
OS: Win95 OSR2 (4.00.950B)
CD Drive: Creative 12X IDE (Seen by OS as "Mitsumi FX120T !B")
Device Manager reports no problems.
UNSUCCESSFUL ATTEMPTS AT CORRECTION:
Removed CD (in Dev.Mgr.), reinstalled
Reinstalled OS
Removed Sound Card
Different RAM
Different IDC cable
Ran drive in MS-DOS mode (via SBIDE.SYS+MSCDEX)- with and without SMARTDRV.
Don't have another drive to test with...
Drive worked fine previously in different system.
PLEASE HELP!!!

Have you tried going into the CD properties and turning off DMA. This might work. Also try a different brand of CDRs some drives are finicky.

Your Creative 12x is very fussy. All creatives seeem to be this way except the 32x and up.
A newer CD ROM will help, unless you are happy hitting the retry button 50+ times.

I have had the same problem with CDs cut on a
sony CDR, older CD-rom drives slower than 24x
can not read the CD or can only see some of the files, I always bring a 32x drive with
me just in case.I have used multisession and
packet writing software both have the same results
