    Question LG CDRWs?

I have just been looking at the ads for impossibly cheap LG burners.

I have had no experience with these units. I know no one who has owned one.

My kid is looking for an inexpensive burner, and I am wondering what experiences others have had with LG's 8x and 12x drives.

I have sold some LG drives in the past. They seem to have a high failure rate. Best advise is try a Plextor or Lite-on Burner. With a lot of this stuff the old saying rings true. You get what you pay for!

    Wink

I have an LG 8x4x32x IDE burner for more than a year and it has worked great. That's all I can say about that. I also have 2 Lite-on burners 12x10x32x. They have worked very well also. The Lite-on ones do not work with Symantec Ghost program for making an image of a hard drive but the LG does. I like both of them good back for your buck. Plextor's are overrated.

I wouldn't get an LG CD-RW unless I wouldn't care about the money.

There are a few stores over here that are selling the LG 8x4x32 CDRW's with full retail kit & 100 Blank Media for less than £80 inc VAT!! The LG readers are fine, not had any problems with them, but I think that this deal is too goo to be true.

Give me a Plextor anyday of the week.

    Thanks, all.

"Give" me a Plextor drive, too, please. I have looked at them many times with great longing.

My kid would have to save his pennies for a very long time even to get to a point where the shops would let him look at a Plextor box. He could buy almost 3 LG burners for the same price.
