    Resolved [RESOLVED] CD-Rom Driver Help

I need help setting up a Cd-Rom drive in a Compaq Deskpro. I imagine it to be a sony because when I started up the computer after installing it the "Sony Proprietay Controller" was found as a new device in the Device manager. Now all I need is the drvers for this specific drive that I cannot find anywhere. The "Universal IDE CD-Rom Driver" wasn't of any help either. It is on the second IDE port and is set to the master (it's the only CD-Rom drive in there). I need this fixed soon, please help. My e-mail is [email protected] . If there are any other questions about the computer you need to know just email them to me or post them and I'll reply. Thanks!

First, If you have a sony proprietary cdrom drive, it is a 34 pin connection not a 40 pin IDE connection, if it is plugged into the IDE controller it won't work. Also your computer shouldn't boot.

If it is infact an IDE CDROM drive, then remove the "Sony Proprietary Controller" from system properties, reboot computer and it should be working as and IDE CDROM.
