Problems with using Athlon with 98SE USB
Heres the problem basically when ever I attempt to install a usb device(microtek scanner) everything stops and I get a general protect fault error. I have the Athlon 500, 128 sdram, 13g maxtor hd along with Nivida tnt 16 mg vid card. Microsoft claims they have identified the problem and have since issued a fix that dosen't work. In a attempt to isolate the problem, I connected a usb mouse and same problems results. What's the deal now that I got a great horse under the hood and I can't use usb tech H e l p !!!

Did you install the miniport driver that came with mobo, or did you just let SE pick it up? I think it's at version 1.45 now. Also, enable IRQ for USB in the BIOS.
