Post Lockups in Need for Speed 5

Machine as follows: Gigabyte 5AA, K6-2 450, 128 pc 100, maxtor 20gb, voodoo 3 3000 agp, sbpci64, 3com 905btx nic, goldstar 40x, mitsumi 4x2x8 drive....game locks up no matter what I do, the intro movie runs great, but once inside, everything just runs slow and eventually the mouse locks up and the music stops playing...any ideas?

this may be a dumb answer but, make sure you are updated in every way possible (directx, vid drivers, patches ect)
this may help - it may not.

If it starts out good and gradually grinds to a halt I would be looking at a "memory bleed" or caching problem. This is often helped by a patch from the game publisher. I would write them and look for a patch. EA is usually good at responding.

Try getting DX7.0a ....then installing it and then reinstalling the game .since the game won't work if you had a dx under 7.0 when you installed it... and then installed 7.0 when the game was already installed...that's the only help i can give you
