Just did a clean Win 2K install on a new Compaq 1.4 Ghz P4. Have one problem device that Device Manager shows as a 'PCI Device' under 'Other Devices'.
'Problem Device' under 'System Info' shows as "PCI Device PCI/VEN_8086&DEV_2443&SUBSYS__47428086&REV_02\3&61AAA-1&0&FB 22". Device Manager under Win Me showed this device as "Intel 82801BA/BAM SMBus Controller-2443". I am looking for a driver for this device. Will appreciate any help you can provide. Thanks, Frank |

I have ran into this problem alot. Mostly with fresh installs(non-imaged) of 2k and XP. It's extremely common for this to happen on any pre-manufactured/commercial machines as they assume you will just use the recovery disk to re-image the HD. I hate using those recovery disks because most of the time they have alot of junk installed you dont really need.
Here is the link to Intel's solution: http://www.intel.com/support/chipsets/sb/cs-013541.htm |
