    Resolved [RESOLVED] "CSC Notification"

Sometimes when I close down Windows 2000, I get a "CSC Notification" window come up with a moving progress bar. There is also an "end task" button in the same window. Anyone know what this is?

    TIA

CSC could = client side caching //dunno what this is yet or:
CSC could = customer support center

are you running a beta of anything or has any error occurred on your machine which asked you if you wanted to report that error to microsoft? is your network light blinking while this happens?

No Beta's and not set to report anything to MS.

PS. How do you get that custom image under your name?

    Thanks

You have to have a certain number of posts to get a custom image...i believe it's 200 if I remember correctly.

CSC, Client Side Caching. The server can tell client computers whether they can or cannot cache certain shared folders. If caching is enabled, there are three possible behaviors.

Manual Caching for Documents odes not cache any files on the users computer unless the user requests it.

Automatic Caching For Documents will cache files that the user opens, but will not cache other files unless the user requests it.

Automatic Caching for Programs will cache files that are not to be changed; the files will be downloaded to the user's computer and run fron there. It is useful for read only data as well as programs, but will not push changes back to the server.
