    Smile Windows ME and Novell?

okay, looking at Novells site, i see that they don't have any clients or windows me... why? I know ME is kickin' the bucket and XP is taking it's place, but I need a client for this workstation that I"m working on. Does the 95/98 work well with ME? Is tehre any modifications that I need to do? I've loaded the 95/98 client on ME, but the login box does not pop up when the computer starts up? Is there something that I can make it to pop back up? Thanks all,

Try downloading the Netware Client 3.3 for 95/98. Go tho this link http://www.novell.com/download/index.html. It worked for me.
but the login box does not pop up when the computer starts up?
Check if Primary Network Logon on Network properties set to Novell Netware client. Or if it still didn't work. Try removing all the network components and restart your computer. then use the setup of the Novell Client to install the components.
Hope this helps! Have a nice Day!

I know this may sound obvious but check all your cable connections particularly look for a link light on your network card. If that all looks OK check out TID 10022238 on the Novell Site :-

    Symptom
Novell login dialog fails to appear because of spanning tree protocol (STP) negotiation.

We had a similar problem when we put in a new Cisco switch. Machines couldn't find the network due to the reason specified in that document. The network cards we were using were 3com 3C900 Combos. In the end we downloaded a utility from the 3com site which allowed us to set the speed and connection type on the actual hardware of the card. The other option was to actually set the ports on the Cisco switch to the settings in the document by Telneting into it. This may or may not be related to your problem.

    Hope it helps.
