Unable to remove addresses in GroupWise Frequent Contacts
We're using GroupWise 5.5.4 on NetWare 4.11 w/ sp8a.
Problem:
Entries in Frequent Contacts address book can be deleted. However, after closing the address book and open it again they all come back!
Things I have tried:
- Run contents check on the user.db
- Archive his mail, did structural rebuild of his mailbox. Even a blank mailbox has Frequent Contacts book populated.
Has anyone experienced this strange problem? Besides deleting his mailbox and give him a new one (I'm trying to win points here ), is there something else I need to look at?
Appreciate your input.

1.Did you delete All the cookies on His Work Station?
2.Is you Groupwise backed up? Could be replicating from a backup!
3. Only Novell on the system ? No M/$ or Apple right?

Does any other user in your GroupWise domain have this problem? If so, then rebuilding the mailbox from scratch can help, but only if your other servers (if you've got any) clean out any references to that user. Don't ask how I know.
What I would do is go into Address Book and right click on the Frequent Contacts tab, select properties, then options. Here you can turn the frequent contacts feature off entirely. May save you a lot of trouble.
Just a hunch, but you may want to try reinstalling the GroupWise client on his workstation. Has cleared up a couple of weird errors that I've seen.

There is only one user that is having this problem in our mail system. It is not due to the client because the problem exists at whatever station he is logged in. In fact, we just assigned him a brand new laptop...
Turning off Frequent Contacts address book is not a viable solution. He is one of those users who relies on the FC instead of creating the individual contacts in his personal address book. My problem is that I can only suggest, but not able to enforce .
Looks like I will have to pull the plug on his mail account, or hoping that the GW 6 upgrade will fix the problem.

One issue with GroupWise address books that I am aware of is: commas in the address book fields can corrupt the address book db.
Can he add any entries in the address book? If not, then it may be a rights issue. Unfortunately, I don't know where the address book DB is stored on the server.

Mac's right comas have been known to screw it up, but you said you re~built the mail box's so the information is replicating from some where inbedded in the server. And my guess is it could have corrupted the data base, or it's acting like a TSR.I would uninstall then reinstall. Check his rights on the network.
