Unhappy My CRX100E has VERY expensive tastes.....

...and doesn't like using CD-Rs. It reads and writes to CD-RWs OK, though!!! Whenever I put a CD-R in, I just keep getting the message "no media inserted!" and this is with no fewer than 5 different types of CD-burning software. Is this a firmware problem, a problem with the CD-Rs themselves or does my drive just like expensive stuff? Has anybody else ever had this problem, and how did you fix it? I am at my wits' end, not counting the 50-odd blank and useless CD-Rs gathering dust on my desk. The Sony website is worse than f****** useless and I don't know where else to turn! Please help!!!!
    TIA,
    Chrissie

I assume, everything else on your system is working properly.

Have you tried removing completely and installing again its ORIGINAL software?
If not, you should try it.

If it wouldn't help, try a firmware upgrade. Be very careful though. Download and install the correct one!

    Good luck.

Try changing your CD-R media to a different type. I remember many moons ago tat the 4x8 Mitsumi IDE writer I had wouldn't recgnise the cheap CD's. Put a branded disc in and they are fine. I did manage to work a way around it though, which was to use a CD-Labeling kit and label the blanks b4 using them. It seemed the cheap CD-R's were too translucent and this was why the drive wouldn't recognise tehm.
