laptop Hard drive died again
I was wondering if any of you other heavy laptop users have problems with the drives dying? I had my second drive in the past 2 years die today, not a pretty picture. burned a cd-r about a month ago so not too much was lost. anyway, my point / question is this:
1. do other people have pathetic drives in their laptops?
2. what am I doing that causes it to go? I'm dual booting Linux Mandrake and win98, leave it on all day but turn it off at night, the hard drive usually spins down after 20 minutes (unless I'm downloading while I'm out or some other activity), i've even got it elevated a little bit to help with the heat. any thoughts?

Welcome to the Club''' I've had a tough time with Laptop HD's to the point that I now refuse to work with them. Tough time finding drives.
To add insult to Injury the HD on my NEC Ready 340T croaked in under two years and haven't found a replacement anywhere. It is sitting on my bench waiting for a replacement.

Try http://www.igo.com . I usually find most stuff I need for my laptop there. Hope this helps.
