Hey all, I am looking to purchase a PDA and I want to know the beat on the street to which one is the best to purchase. Nothing over $500.00 unless it is a great deal. Thanks for all the help!!!

I've had a Palm IIIx for over a year now and have really enjoyed it. I've not had a bit of trouble.
I don't think you can go wrong with a Palm, in my opinion. If I was buying one today I'd be sure to get one that had at least 8 mb. |

I'm very happy with my Handspring Visor running the Palm OS. The newer ones with color still come in just under $500. They synch to Outlook or the Palm calendar and after having succesfully completed the 12 step program to cure my addiction to paper and pen I can truthfully say that I wouldn't look back. 'Course....that diddle bug program allows you a scratch pad of sorts. Would that be cheating?

I got a Palm IIIXe for Xmas (gotta luv bro-in-laws!)and I really love the thing. I would say, think about what you really want to do with it; a convenient replacement for a dayplanner or do you want a laptop you can put in your pocket? Then go from there.
I did see an ad in PC Week for a combo PDA/Cellphone...I WANT ONE!!!!!!! Street cost was around 3and some change(hundred). Supposed to be hitting the streets this or next month. Sorry, don't remember the brand name and left mag at work. If your interested, I'll post more dtails 2morrow. ------------------ "SO...Exactly where IS the ANY key?!?" |

I bought a Compaq Aero 2160 last year. (£200). With 24mb ram, 65k colour screen, and Windows CE 2.11, it works a dream. I can even browse and email via infra red with my mobile... Got Pocket streets installed, with maps of London etc, and Palm remote to control TV's, Hifis, DVD's etc.
I know the IPAQ is cheaper now, and much faster... Go for a Windows based, Colour screen. Man, when I bought mine, the Handspring Deluxe was the same price, but it was B&W, with 8 MB Ram. Now I got 65k Colour, and 24MB Ram, at the same price. You can either go for a Hand held, with the Keyboard etc like a PSION, HP offer a wide range, but the Palm Computers (Compaq, HP, Casio) are better... ------------------ A General Protection Error has occured - Time to go home...

I own a Palm and A Casio E-115 and than the occasional reset, I really like my E-115. While I like the Casio EM500 because it is thinner, I bought the Casio so I could use Compact Flash cards and transfer data between it and my laptop. The EM500 uses MMC cards which only go up to 64 megs, the Compact Flash cards go up to a 1 gig harddrive and even beyond
