Talking PalmOS App Recommendations

I finally got a Palm m100 (used)and I'm looking for interesting apps and games.

What do you consider a "must get" for the PalmOS?

See: <a href="http://www.mobipocket.com" target="_blank">www.mobipocket.com</a>

I love reading books on my Palm. Site has a free reader and publisher. Several dozen classic books are free as well. I have enjoyed the Sherlock Holmes mysteries.

Or just grab the Harry Poter or another book's text(provided you own a hard copy yourself)from another site and make your own eBook. The publisher is really easy to use.

Oh don't get me started here...

go to <a href="http://www.freewarepalm.net" target="_blank">www.freewarepalm.net</a> they have loads and loads of free stuff to play around with

I'd start with X-master <a href="http://linkesoft.com/english/xmaster/" target="_blank">http://linkesoft.com/english/xmaster/</a> , it allows you to install hacks to change the way the Palm works.

CSpotRun <a href="http://www.32768.com/bill/palmos/cspotrun/" target="_blank">http://www.32768.com/bill/palmos/cspotrun/</a> is a free PalmDOC viewer. All the other viewers do the same thing and they cost money.

STRIP <a href="http://www.zetetic.net" target="_blank">www.zetetic.net</a> allows you to store a 256-bit encypted database of all your passwords and personal info so you won't forget a password or PIN number again.

VEXED! is an addictive puzzle game: <a href="http://vexed.sourceforge.net/vexed.html" target="_blank">http://vexed.sourceforge.net/vexed.html</a>

Rally 1000 <a href="http://davemayes.hypermart.net/rally.html" target="_blank">http://davemayes.hypermart.net/rally.html</a> is a cool rendition of a popular european card game

Pocket Scorch <a href="http://www.hybrid.fi/palm/scorch.html" target="_blank">http://www.hybrid.fi/palm/scorch.html</a> is a mini game based on the old game Scorched Earth

PalmFuelLog lets you track the fuel economy of your car and charts a graph over time: <a href="http://palmfuellog.sourceforge.net" target="_blank">http://palmfuellog.sourceforge.net</a>

Convert <a href="http://www.jps.net/brettnkt/pilot.html" target="_blank">www.jps.net/brettnkt/pilot.html</a> is a conversion calculator

<a href="http://easycalc.sourceforge.net/" target="_blank">http://easycalc.sourceforge.net/</a> Easycalc is a replacement calculator with graphing and solver abilities.

and i've been playing with Scrabble lately available at <a href="http://www.handmark.com" target="_blank">www.handmark.com</a> for $30.

Hope that keeps you occupied for a while.

Thanks guys!

I already had X-Master (Logohack, GreenLightHack, FlipHach and MatrixHack so far), and Vexed. Scorched Earth had me undergoing addiction therapy for a while, so I'm glad to see it back.

I'll definitely give Convert and Strip a shot, as I was looking for something like that too.

Just slapped on Pocket Chess (for me) and Parking Lot (for the kids), and I'm quite happy to have found an ASCII table.

There's a whole new world opening up in front of my eyes...

Keep'em coming

I added in the Olive Tree Bible Reader and the KJV files, but that thing is huge! I'm already contemplating sending it over to <a href="http://www.palmpilotupgrade.com/" target="_blank">Palm Pilot Upgrades</a>... 2 Mb ain't gonna cut it, I'm afraid.

This program takes up only 4K - but it needs an 88K runtime to work! I could paste the text into my memo pad and it wouldn't even take up 1K of space.<hr></blockquote>

I almost took that one

LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL!!! Ya, that was by far the dumbest program I've ever downloaded. I felt it appropriate to leave some feedback there. PS - for those that don't get the joke, I AM COREY REYNOLDS.

Question

How about apps or docs that are of particular interest to the IT field?

I've mentioned an ASCII table, and I've now added <a href="http://www.palmgearhq.com/software/showsoftware.cfm?sid=18416920011205083652&prodID=2 8348" target="_blank">Monk v1.1</a>, a very basic UNIX reference.

Does anyone else have suggestions in that field?

Lots of good stuff at <a href="http://www.memoware.com" target="_blank">www.memoware.com</a>

Or download <a href="http://www.deepwave.net/ref/palm-wdc2/" target="_blank">http://www.deepwave.net/ref/palm-wdc2/</a> this and make your own PalmDOC's in MSWord.

I followed through with MacGyver's previous post and found this: <a href="http://www.deepwave.net/ref/palm-net/index.html" target="_blank">Serial Connection to the Internet</a>!

PalmVNC, can you believe it?!

I tell you, it took me all of 4 days to get hooked on my Palm Pilot
