Post jump starting my laptop

Hi all I have a Hitachi Vision Book Pro 7000 laptop intel 266 80 meg 6 gig i bought it with a dead Duracell Dr-202 battery, at the time it had 95 upgraded to 98.... it would show when it was on the battery or on ac power in the taskbar or in power properties. it would dee the battery though!
i got a Foxlink Ft-202s battery from ebay... brand new.... the computer still had 98 on it at the time when it got it in the mail and the computer would NOT see the battery and would make no attempt to charge it.... well I sent it back to the Co. and they sent me another one. well in that time i have put 2000 pro on it and then upgraded to xp pro..just to test it out. well no matter how i seem to set up the bios or power properties.... it always says ON AC POWER even while running on the battery. ok no big deal though , I can live with that . well after giveing the battery a full charge , (and this is the problem) the computer if not plugged in will boot up to the post, perform the memory check and right when Windows should kick in and start booting. it goes to a blank screen. it still seems like it is on but will not boot...... i tried like 8 times the other night and got it to come up once... if i plug in the charger to it it will boot up fine and then i can unplug it and use it for like an hour or 2..... i feel that the battery is charging up but some how it seems like windows will not see that it is there,,,, i think that the battery gauge should be in xp and 2000 pro but i cant see it like i did when i had 98 and the old duracell battery in there, I am half tempted to put 98 back in and see if it will see this new battery. i wrote this whole post off battery power ... just got a real nice leather laptop bag for Christmas...but a lptop is not all that handy if you have to jump it to get it running. HELP PLEASE..... BTW> if anyone is interested in this thing. it may be on ebay
THANKS CMT <img src="confused.gif" border="0">
