Angry Laptop Display

I have got a Toshiba 115CS, I reformetted the whopping 775MB drive and I am attepting to reload Windows 95 for my Mom. I can't get the display to size correctly. There is a one inch black border around the screen/ the desktop is too small. I have done everything I can think of, replaced the driver (100 times or so) removed the display and Moniter from the device manager. Help!

Judging by the size of the hard drive, it sounds like a fairly old laptop.

Change the display to PLUG AND PLAY MONITOR and the graphics card to VGA STANDARD ADAPTER and try to change the display size starting from 640x480 and then if that works try the next setting up on the slider.

Goto the display settings in control panel -> advanced tab -> adjust the screen size. The maximum would probably be 800x600.

Another setting to change is the actual display. Goto display settings in control panel -> advanced tab -> advanced button -> display tab -> change to laptop display 800x600.

I tried every adapter and every display setting I could find for it. I also looked at Toshiba's web site and they don't even support that laptop anymore. Any help would be appriciated.

reinstall the proiper display driver first. go to the advanced section of the display properties of the display settings and go to the monitor tab. set it for laptop display panel 800x600. click apply and set the display resolution to 800x600. restart the laptop and it should look proper.

Thanks DA, Worked like a charm. Now If I could just get the modem to work. It is a 33 installs fine and is able to return dignostics from the modem properties, if you try to dial it gives an error of not modem installed, the dial properties only list one modem to select from in the "Connect Using" box and it is the right modem, I have removed and reinstalled PCMCIA support and nothing.

Boot the machine in safe mode. go to device mangler and remove all entrys for modems. then go to the registry and remove any entrys under local machine->system->current controll set->services->class->modems and restart the machine. you may also need to follow the same procedure to remove all the communication ports and the pcmcia sockets incase windows has decided to do something silly with them.
