    Post connecting to internet problem

Have a computer that a program called gator was installed. Since installation the cable connection will not connect to the internet through microsoft explorer. It will still use the same connection to check email sign on through aol and get onto the internet through aol.
I know it has to be something that was changed in Microsoft explorer probably in the registry. Uninstalled gator but problem persists. Also running zone alarm. Will not connect with zone alarm down or running. Any suggestions would be much appreciated

Just a wild guess, have you tried to set your IE the default browser. Your note does not indicate you did.

Do you get any error messages?

You can try to repair Internet Explorer if you have updated it. Click Control Panel -> Add/Remove Programs ->Internet Explorer 5.5 and Internet Tools. Select option #2 "Repair Internet Explorer" and click OK.

If you don't see Internet Explorer in Add/Remove Programs, you can download and install Internet Explorer 5.5 SP2 from Microsoft website:

you can try uninstalling and reinstalling zonealarm...i've had zonealarm hose a few times and was not able to connect until i wiped it. I've used gator and I doubt that thats what hosed your connection. You could also try running system restore to a point before you had the problem, that fixes a few things most times.
