web pages unavailable
I have recently replaced a friends modem but now when I connect to the internet there are not any web pages available although a connection has been established, please can anyone help

OK. Try the following.
Can you ping by IP?
Can you ping by FQDN?
Can you Surf by IP?
What happens when you use dos FTP and connect to an IP?
Basicly, Flush TCP/IP, if you still can't ping by FQDN (Get unknown host) then chances are it's Winsock (FTP test will give a sock error)

I concur. It's almost certainly a Winsock problem. Here's the fix:
