Apparent CDROM Problems
Hi, I have a problem where every time I insert a CD into my cdrom drive I receive an illegal operation.. An invalid page fault in module autorun.exe at 0167:00404500. I have ruled out memory hardware because I can use all programs on the hard drive/surf the internet etc.. No problems booting up at all. When I place a cd in the drive (Mitsubishi 52x IDE)It attempts to autorun, I then receive the illegal operation. This error can cause the system to be unstable (I have to restart the machine) eveything is fine until i use the cdrom. System specs as follows:- Pentium III 600B Slot 1. Abit VA6 Motherboard, 128mb PC-133 SDRAM, 32mb TNT2 Video Card, 15GB Seagate HDD, 52x Mitsubishi CDROM Drive, Thats basically it. There are no DOS Drivers installed for the CDROM... Any info/help much appreciated. Cheers, Steve

You have tried many different CDs right?
Try the following:
- try it on another IDE channel
- try another CDROM drive
- disable any startup crap
I had a problem on an older computer where it reported all CDs as having corrupted files..changing the IDE channel fixed that.

Have you tried disabling Auto Run in the CDROM Properties?
Then try opening the CDROM through My computer or Explorer.
