[RESOLVED] My PC Dont like CD-rom drives as secondery slave help me please !!!

Hi there my PC crashes out if I try to access a CD or DVD that is inserted in the drive that is attached to IDE port 2 on my mainboard as a secondary. The crash is a BSOD and it winges on about some SCSI VXD error. any help would be much apreciated.

My system is a Jeyway 630AF MB with 384 Megs of PC 133 Ram and a celeron 800 @ 966.

yes I have tried 2 DVD Rom drives and 2 cdrw drives and 1 standard 24x CD-rom drive all with the same problem. oh and it only occurs in win 9x or ME as XP works fine !!!

Here is the BSOD details :

An execption 0E occured at 0028:C182D344 in VxD SCSI1HLP(03) + 000005A4 this was called from 0028:C182D2A8 in VxD SCSI1HLP(02) + 00000508

This is an off the wall question, but have you updated the ASPI layer on your system? Its a long shot, but may work. If you need more help with this, just reply back!

Also, download and install the latest drivers for the chipset.

This is an extremely common problem so don't worry your not alone.

Things to try:

1) Update the IDE drivers to the latest version or even go back to the original shipping drivers, it sometimes works for me.

2) Disable DMA in the CDROM properties box.

3) Update the ASPI drivers as PJPilate suggested, again you never know.

4) Check the jumper settings on the drive, I am assuming it should set to "Slave" as it is the secondary device on the chain.

5) Again I am assuming it is secondary because there is another device connected to it. Try setting the CDROM as a master and leaving it as the only device on the chain.

i think i had similar problem way back dealing with the aspi drivers for a cdr,, i think it was nero conflicting with adaptecs ezcoaster creator

tahnks for your help guys I found out my pc didnt like disc juggler, i uninstalled it and everything went ok
