    Post IE 5 Update

I have tried to use windows update to install the latest mods to IE5. After downloading the installastion starts and gets to approx 84% and then hangs. I have left it running for 2 hours and it never completes. I can however cancel and get the clean up routine OK - this takes about 30 minutes. Next time I reboot I get a dialogue box asking if I want to resume setup and the same thing happens. Anybody seen this with IE5 installation (also tried the IE6 beta update and it did the same thing) ?????

That's what I do too. Don't waste your time and money to download it from the web.

I had a problem similiar when D/L updates from MS. Made sure my virus protect was disabled and screen saver off and no problems after that. I am now using the downloaded beta IE 6.00 and having no problems with it. A few nice perks in 6.00 browser. Use Win ME. It is a bit of a pain rebooting after each update download. I tried not rebootig between succesive downloads and compuer locked up a couple times so now I just go ahead and do the reboot when instructed and make sure my TEMP folder (which I keep shortcut to on desktop for easy flushing) is cleaned out of temp install files.

You could try the Windows Update Corporate site and download the full version instead of the partial online setup files
