Goto windrivers home page and click on DLLs on the left side of page. Goto the Ws and scroll down to the winsock that you need download and replace your old one. Be sure you have removed all traces of the virus. Sounds like you had the Hybis or some form of it. Be sure to check all your E-mail and delete all attachments. Might reccomend a copy of innoculate personal edition from Computer Associates. It is free!!

Hope this helps

Just went thru a session with this on a customers computer , they ran it till it would no longer run then wanted to fix it ! The machine (266 Pent) took forever to do anything , wouldn't allow a lot of things and was such a mess I took the easy way out and "0" filled the drive ,fdisk, etc.I was able to get Inoculate installed and it recognised the virus , but loocked up and would do no more.Customer had Norton 5.0 installed , and last update was Dec. 99 , not good enough ! If you have an antivirus program installed , try to do the update and run a scan , if not , try a download of Inoculate IT and install / run it. Heres the address http://antivirus.cai.com/ good luck

I would recommend Inoculate It PE (the free one from CA). It has real-time detection, and it runs a light load on your system.

You could always run System File Checker (sfc.exe) and use that to extract a new version of the winsock.dll.

Had a system with that this morning, the virus w32.hybris virus corrupts the wsock32.dll file really bad, any virus software with updates should be able to fix it.

Symantec has the solution to this problem on their website. Doesn't even require downloading Norton Antivirus.

Good Luck
