Post Network Associates Management Console

I am trying to setup the Repository in the Management console of the "Total Virus Defense Suite". I want to set it up to point to ftp.mcafee.com/pub/antivirus/datfiles/4.x, but whenever I try to do it, it cannot find the machine.

Has anyone here setup the Management Edition and the repository successfully? I really need some help!

Thanks,
tim

Hi,
I am using (Succefully) TVD (Awesome!!) for about a year.
in my case i do not give an FTP address.

I made a simple FTP script to download Weekly Dat files (FTP -s - I can send you an Example of the Script...).
I also use the AT to Schedule it once a week.

This way i have no problem.

P.s. do you also Use GROUPSHIELD for Exchange 4.5 SP1?

I'd appreciate a look at that script file.

What I figured out was to install the Netshield program on the server (the server needs a virusscan client also, of course). The Netshield program can automatically go out to the ftp site once a day and download the updates. I specified to save the updates, and pointed the save location to the ME repository.

Now I am just wondering, even though the updates get saved in there, will that mean that the updates will automatically propagate to the virus domain users? Somehow I don't think so.

So can you tell me, is the way you do it completely automated? (i.e., it will automatically get the updates, AND propagate the updates to the clients.)

Thanks for your help!

I too have had the MC running for a while. You need to setup an area on your server where you will place the updates and applications for the TVD suite. I can then send any app or update to any machine on the network. There have been a recent number of updates to the MC (now 2.5 MR1).

FRom there, you just add programs/updates to the repository (Super DAT and DATs) so they can then be added to new machines or update existing systems. Net & Groupshield can be installed to the servers also.

The MC places a small program on the client PC so it can keep up to date and control the system. Reports can also be requested.
