[RESOLVED] Delta 52X CD-ROM Installation
I have recently installed Win ME but since then I have not been able to install my 52X Delta CD-ROM drive. My Bios has no problem at all of seeing the CD drive but as a primary slave, secondary master and slave, Windows ME still does not see the drive. Please anyone out there, can you help.
Thanks a lot

Check and see if you have any conflicts in the Device Mangler. If you do then you need to address why.

Also check and see if "real mode drivers" are being loaded. You do not need them in Win9x

Have you installed a bus master driver, like Via one? If so, try removing it.

delta 52x cd-roms are junk. we had to send back all of ours because the failure rate was way to high about 50% with problems like you just mentioned. try another brand and ill bet windows will see it.

Thank you greg555, you are so right. I have just installed Win M.E. on a friends computer who has a very old 18X CD-ROM drive, not capable of audio extraction even, but still Win M.E. could see the drive, no problem. Yes my drive is junk and very noisy too.
Thank you for everyone's help, I will buy a new IDE CD-ROM drive. Has anyone got a suggestion of a good decent quiet CD-ROM drive. Note please an IDE drive not SCSI.
Thank you for any suggestions.

CTX , LG, Plextor are all good solid drives. I mainly use the CTX drives in builds. Very rare to get a dead one.
