    Red face randomly ejection of cd-roms!!!

    I found the strangest problem the other day!!! i found a machine that ramdomly ejects the cd-rom for no reason at all!! it is a creative 52X!!! and three weeks ago i found another that does the same thing!!! This machine was running windows 2000! and it had 128 ram (sd) a7v 700 duron!!

    i think it may be virus!! not sure can any one help!!!

    This phenomenon is crazy!!!

    This really isn't going to help much on resolving your issue, but it may help eliminate some kind of virus or software setting and also help to determine if it's mechanical failure, but try leaving it in the BIOS and see if it happens in there.

    This sounds like one of those pratical joke programs that ejects the CD at random intervals. Run MSCONFIG and make sure there isn't anything fishy running on startup. If you're not sure if something should be loading or not, let us know what the file name is and we could probably tell you.

    Good suggestion Mac. I have seen plenty of Trojan Horse programs that will enable another person (host) to control many programs on your (client) computer. This would be odd to have it happen to two different computers in such a short period of time but it is the only logical explanation I can give. Unless it's some strange problem with the PSU.

    Typical Creative Labs (or should I say rebadged Samsung) drive. It is not a virus but a very common fault with these drives.

    I have lost count of the amount of Creative CD-Rom's I have RMA'd since tehy switched from the Panasonic ones about 5 years ago. They were fine until they started using Samsung.....
