    Post Can't See Own Server

Running NT 4.0 on both workstations and Servers.
My server is just a file sharing server. I can map to it just fine, access just fine, etc... but I CAN'T see it in Network Neighborhood from my workstation. This is a large LAN, with numerous PDC's, BDC's, other servers, workstations, all of which I can see.. just not my own server. I've got NETBUI loaded, LMHOSTS is hardcoded with the IP address, etc.. my "higher" level Help Desk, is no help.. they don't have a clue. Anyone have any ideas?

if your running an ip network get netbui off the server, no sence in binding another protocol to the card if you don't have to, and besides if your using netbui over tcpip this could be causing the problem.

also, if you running ip i'd forget the lmhost entry and resolve with dns by having a dns entry. i wouldn't use both.

and lastly, wins, make sure you have a wins ip on the server pointing to your wins servers. if the server your having problems with is your wins server use that servers ip for both the primary and secondary wins preferences.

    hope this helps

Have to agree with storm---forget Netbeui. Also WINS is definitely something that should be running on the network.

One other thing though is your computer browser service running?? That service has alot to do with what you see in Network Neighborhood so I would look into that.
