Angry DVD not working since I upgraded to XP

OK, it started when I did a clean install of XP. After that, I couldn't watch DVD's on my computer anymore. the error message says that there is a problem with the copy-protection on the DVD Drive. I called Samsung about it, and the tech I got was VERY unhelpful, to the point of insisting I was wrong. (It says the drive has problems, I told him that, and he said it wasn't the drive. whatever.)

anyways, I'm using the XP version of DVMatics, so I know I have the latest software. The tech guy suggested a different dvd software.

So is it drivers, or software, or hardware? anyone ever seen this?

I did come across this with a quick search may or may not apply:

Software Update: MovieStar 4.24 for DVC II WinXP Upgrade Patch

    IMPORTANT

This upgrade patch is only for users of Digital Video Creator II with MovieStar 4.23 installed. If you do not have version 4.23 installed, please use the other upgrades available to upgrade your software to version 4.23. Dazzle reccomends that you only install this patch if you are using Microsoft Windows XP.

    How to Upgrade Your Software

Make sure you are using Digital Video Creator II and that MovieStar 4.23 is installed.
Download the 4.23-4.24 patch (2.2MB) from the Dazzle website and save it on your computer.
Double-click on the 4.23-4.24.exe icon and follow the on-screen instructions to install the patch.
    Restart your computer.
If Windows XP prompts you to upgrade to the newer version of DV Matics DVD Player Software DO NOT UPGRADE or MovieStar will not funcion properly.

Gives the German manual for the application,I dont read German so it may not help.

There is mention of the inclusion of inbult security features in the software [below] so you might want to try a different player to see if its a software problem.
