[RESOLVED] Conflicting cd drives
I have a HP Pavillion with an internal IDE cd rom. I also have installed a USB external Iomega CDRW. Now my internal Cd keeps freezing whenever I try to play a game that acccesses the CD. But whwn I put the Cd in the USB drive, the game loads and plays fine? Can the USB and the IDE drive be having a conflict. I am getting no conflict messages in my hardware profiles and the internal cd works fine for everything else. and it is only some games that do this. Others work fine with the internal drive.
What could be the cause and how can I fix this?

Are your drivers and firmware up to date for the internal cd-rom?

What driver letter is the internal? Did it change with the installation of the external? Try specifing the drive letter in device manager and see of theat helps.
