[RESOLVED] not reading from cds in dos
i have just formatted my other pc and i was unable to get the cd rom to read. i have installed the driver and i can see the drive but it wont read wants in there. plz help

I've had the same problem I installed a generic cd-rom driver, instead of the manufactures, and that worked. However it is not always the fix the fault but it is worth trying.

Just a crazy idea, but it might just be a co-incidence that the CD-ROM needs a lens clean, especially if you've moved the system around & disturbed some dust.
Does the drive try to read the TOC (busy light) when you insert disc? If it tries for longer than normal then gives a DOS error like "drive not ready", a clean may do it.
