Hardware:
Motherboard Asus A7V (bios 1006, via 4in1 4.28v)
AMD Athlon 800 MHz

SB Live 1024
ATI Rage Fury Pro 32 MB
CDROM Creative 52X on Primary-Master (DMA)
DVDROM Pioneer A103 on Primary-Slave (DMA)
CDRW Yamaha on Secondary-Slave (PIO)

Software:
Win2K Professional (SP1) & Win98SE
Ahead Nero 5.0.4.4

I just replaced my old, but working fine, cd writer Yamaha 4416E (IDE) with a new Yamaha 2100E (IDE too).

Booted on Win2K, the system configured itself for the new device found, restarted the PC and all seemed worked fine, no conflict in Control Panel.

I put a CD (data or music is the same) on the writer to create an image on HD, the CDRW started reading but soon paused reading data (at about 5%), the LED indicating the HD activity is on for 1 or 2 minutes then the writer spins againg to read other data on CD but pauses again after a few seconds, and so on ....

I tried with both DMA and PIO options on CDRW but nothing changed, I tried also on Win98SE but the same problem occurs.

The write feature of the 2100E is working fine, because if I create the CD Image on HD with the Creative CDROM I am able to burn it with the writer at 12X in 6 minutes (700MB).

Thanks for any suggestions you might have
