What is the make and model of the CD-ROM drive? Check for labels, numbers, stickers, etc. on the drive for information and let us know.
Also, how is this particular drive attached to the parallel port? Does it need any kind of special adapter?

OK...I have a Backpack that works through the parallel port. If your unit is anything like the one I have, you must first have the right driver from the manufacturer. ***** Who made this drive? *****
If you have the driver installed and it still will not work, you must make sure your printer port is enabled, either in the BIOS (if the printer port is built onto the motherboard, as with most current units), or with jumpers on the motherboard or add-on card for older units.
Again, please let us know who made the unit. That is your starting point...
