Post Canadian slang/dialect Question for Canadian Members...

Hey Howdy Hey and thanks for stopping by my post...

Canadians, I need help understanding some dialogue in a play I'm involved in. The characters are all canadian, and obviously we want to fully comprehend what we are saying so we can treat the text with respect:

here goes--

"Hey, we got Freshie."
"Have some Freshie?"

[b]so what the heck is freshie?

Thanks Team!!!!

I've never heard of it, but I did a web search and found that it is "Canada's version of Kool-Aid" although we do have Kool-Aid.

Lots more stuff here though: <a href="http://www.icomm.ca/emily/" target="_blank">An American's Guide to Canada</a>

It ain't from this part of Canada, up here "freshying" someone is the act of dousing a new student with perfume or ink during the first few days of school. Also "hazing" or "gummering". I think your playwright may be a bit out of touch.

Check it out if you can get your hands on it Clammy, you will totally appreciate it. Or come on down to South Bend end of July...
