Adaptec 4 or Liteon cdrw problem?
Installed two of the liteon 12x10x32 cdrw with burn proof into two different computers. Installed the adaptec 4 software which came with it. Here's the problem. After copying a disc using cd copier the source drive(not the cdrw) will no longer read disks unless I reboot. It will eject dics by the button on it,(but not using the software eject button) and load new ones, but click on the d: drive and it says not ready.
Installed all the adaptec updates. One machine is Windows98 se, Athlon 1100, 128 mb ram, 20 gb ibm ata-100 drive with some type of generic 48x cdrom. The other is a Dell p233mmx with 48 mb ram and windows95 osr2, different generic 32x cdrom.
Tried enabling/disabling dma on all drives, changing master/slave positions.
I am thinking it must be a software problem.Tried control-alt-delete to shut down all programs, no luck. Anyone see this before? Since this is a new model with burn proof has anyone seen this problem with the plextor burn proofs? Don't want to rma the drives as they perform great.

it could be a compatibility problem with the generic cd roms and the adaptec software.
have a liteon 12/10/32 and an asus 50x cd rom with no problems at all
