Exclamation CD RW w/ USB connect (sllloowww)

Due to limited space in my case I installed a 12x CD RW in a generic USB external case. When I attempted to copy 300meg from my local disk it took all of 45minutes ???

Now I have a 2x CD RW and when that was installed via IDE it took about the same time. Is my USB connection limiting me during the write process ??

What is the Tx rate on the USB 1.1? I understand USB 2 will provide rates equivent to Firewire, is this true ????

    Thanks yall..

what the other reply did not tell you is that 12mbpm is cut up. 10% reserved, can do as high as 25%. the max for burning via usb is 4x, if your 12x or your software did not support 4x, then it may have switched to 2x by its self.
