Anyone know if there was a good reasopn why Microsoft didn't include Java in Win XP, and is it likely to cause problems, or security issues, if it it downloaded and installed?

You can download and install it right from their Windows Update site....it installs and works fine with sites that require JAVA. I'm thinking the reason they left it out originally was probably something related to their ongoing JAVA battles with Sun.

Thanks Sowulo. I had included some Java mouseovers on my Web Site. Now I realise that they may not work for everyone I have replaced them with plain buttons. I have installed Java on my own machines now as it doesn't appear to cause any problems.
