Question XP Pro/Home???

Here's a simple question...

What is the difference between the "Home" and "Pro" versions of Windows XP?

Two quick differences: You will need pro for dual CPU's or dual Monitor support.

Note to self: Re-index brain cells, database corruption present.

You can't join a XP Home box to a domain, which forces businesses into buying the more expensive Pro.

You also cannot configure NTFS permissions on a Home box. No group policy either...

Here is the offical Microsoft explination to the difference between the two versions.

Actually if you look around the xp site there appears to be a third version as well. There is info on the Windows XP 64-Bit Edition here:

Cool

Thanks for your answers, the MS web site is very informative...

P.S. Just like to say that my thoughts are with all of you who have been affected by the tragic events in New York and Washington. As I write this my Mum and Dad are on a plain mid-Atlantic that has been turner around heading back home to the UK

Home is basically Win ME using the NT/2K kernel as opposed to the 9X kernel. Much more stable than ME/9x, but I still think I'll stick with XP Pro as opposed to XP home.
