Post For those who have two pc's at home running online games

I recently have done some research into our Quake 3 problem, (us both not being able to play at the same time online).

I put up a post in the DSLReports forum and got some good answers. The one guy dropped me a few links that I will post up for those who are interested.

Interesting reading (the forum in DSL reports). Have you tried changing the port settings yet?

For the answer to that.... yes I did.

For the answer to the question "Did it work better?".... yes it did.

<a href="http://www.practicallynetworked.com/support/linksys_router_help_pg4.htm" target="_blank">Here is the other one I was talking about</a>

I found a page off of this one that told about Q3 needing to be set to a differant port. The same game page also tells the ports of practically every networkable game.

This one is a damn good one!

I thought the ports were defined by the host server.

With different ports hosting different games. For example I recall seeing a server with port 27660 as a death match and port 27661 as tournament, etc.

When you set that "/+set_net port 27660" that is the port you tell the server to go to on your computer. When you connect to Milenko's server for instance, as long as under Quake 3 you still have that port set to 27960 that is your outgoing port, 27660 is your incoming port.
