is this possible? i was playing on a server as a sniper and i had between 20 - 30 ping, im playing against this other sniper with 260 ping or more, well this sniper with high pings is beating my @ss left and right

everytime i just peak i get shot instantly and the sniper beats the crap out of other snipers on my team and other team members on my team.


is it possible that a sniper with high ping can master his lag and use that as an advantage ( which i dont see how) to kill other snipers with lower ping?

no matter what i do to try to kill the sniper i just end up dead.

the only way i can kill those sniper gods is if i become and engie and throw emps everywhere.

so my question again is can you use lag , high ping as an advantage to kill others, or does this sound like a cheat?

Theres more than one reason this could happen, and it doesnt nessesarily mean that hes cheating. His higher lag will make him a harder target since due to lag he is not exactly where he appears to be on your screen unless hes standing still. You on the other hand have that nice high speed conn and your position is much more true, making you a much easier target for him (if hes a good shot that helps too ). Having a high speed connection makes the game much more pleasureable for you but until you get used to it, it kinda gives the "Modemites" an unfair advantage over you. I found this out from playing Jedi Kinght shortly after I got my cable modem about 2 years ago. People started having an easy time hitting me while my kills went down. It sucked till I got used to it.


On the other hand....
There are plenty of scripts out there that some hacking goobers will use, such as headshot scripts that will pop a hole in yer skull if he happens to be aiming in your general direction.

Those people are why I avoid public servers.

Rogue Spear has sniper rifles...my favourite is the Walther WA2000.

I have only Dialup, but ping or no, I can easily beat just about everyone..

Sniping is about being patient..waiting for the opponent to make a mistake. Waiting and waiting for the person to poke their head out behind the wall...Anticpating where that person will be and where aproximately their head will be when they peek around a corner or over a bush..

yeah i understand if you stand still your an easy target.

but when im a sniper i jump around and run around and then shoot, the split second when i stop duck and shoot i get shot.


i do have problems hitting players with high ping because there movement is choppy. but this sniper with 200 + ping didnt have choppy movement.

oh well i guess i'll just practise more.

If he hits you while your jumping around on a consistent basis (especially head shots) I might suspect a script is involved, but they way you describe it, I think hes just a good shot and hes getting a little lag help.

Ive never been good at the jumping around stuff, but like Lycia said sniping takes patience, and im a very patient dude....that and taking someone by surprise right when they think their home free is so rewarding...

its funny when the enemy is about to cap the flag and you get a clean head shot and stop them from capping, they get pissed because somebody else takes there cap

I just become a pyro and fry the little cheaters. Try it once and I guarantee they will leave the game.

with cheaters i usually become a suicidal engie and kill everyone with emp.

emp can go through walls and floors so no matter what cheat they got i can kill them as engie.
