Post Team Fortress Server

Is there an official WinDrivers Team Fortress Server?

I keep talking about getting DSL, if I do then I will probably set up a Team Fortress server, if there is interest. What is involved in this? Will this suck up enough CPU cycles that I'll be unable to use my main PC anymore? (900 MHZ celeron, one of these days I'll get my water pump and start water colling, 1.2 GHz) Is there a website that will tell about setting up a server? Thanks.

DSL doesn't make a very good server...at all...

Sorry to burst your bubble....it busted mine when I first got dsl a few years ago as well...you need at least a T3 to host a good server of anything.

i found two good sites:

<a href="http://halflifeserver.com/manuals/tfc/TFCserver.htm" target="_blank">http://halflifeserver.com/manuals/tfc/TFCserver.htm</a>

<a href="http://www.dslwebserver.com/" target="_blank">http://www.dslwebserver.com/</a>

now all i need is to find the extra cash for the dsl line! I wish alladvantage was still working, with all the time i spend online I wouldn't have to pay anything.

I'm callling the phone company on Monday to verify availibility and to check how close to the house the phone company's station is.

definately get the dsl...and host a webserver if you want...i do sometimes..that doesn't require much bandwidth. but a gameserver off dsl will only let you host maybe 2 other people at decent pings.

It's still not good, but in order to get at least decent latency with more than 8 players you will need a conditioned, business-class DSL. They are not available everywhere, and the phone company will probably have to run new copper. They are not as high as a T1, but they are much higher than xDSL

I looked into this. The ad on the radio said 35 dollars a month, which I thought I could pull. Heck it was only 14 bucks more than dialup.

Well, seems it's 35 for the first 6 months, then 45 per month. Also, you need to sign up for one year, and pay for a hundred dollar modem, and the signal cleaners for each phone.

I'm just getting out of high school this year, and am going to college next year. Also, I need a car, so in the face of all these costs I can't pull the cost of DSL. The worst part of this is that I'll be living at home so I can't enjoy the collge's line! GRRRR....
