Post How about some advise on a game for a shut in...

Well since I'm out of commission for about 8 weeks I was wondering what's a good game. I'm not much of a gamer, about the toughest game I ever had was Incoming. I've never played any of the Quakes, Final Fantasies, UT's or Tribes, so any suggestions would be appreciated. My system specs:
Sony Vaio PCV-RX650
P4 1.6 Ghz
512 meg DDR
ATI Radeon 8500 VC
TB Santa Cruz SC
KDS 17" Avitron Monitor
80 gig HD
16X DVDROM

I do like arcade type games and I really did like Incoming (anything out there in that vein?).

Half-life is great in it's own right, but there are about 100 great mods out for it. Pick up the Platinum Pack or such and prepare to thoroughly enjoying killing off a good portion of your life.

You may not be into this kind of game, but my time wasters of choice are Sid Meier's Civilization II and III, and Alpha Centauri. I know Alpha Centauri is only $10 right now at our local game store.

A good link to keep you busy as well is www.fark.com .

If you're into FRPs, then Final Fantasy is the way to go.

Hours and hours of fun!

Oh yeah - get Quake3 too and join the fragging on Milenko's server (quake3.king-nerd.com). No thinking as such, just action

Rogue Spear/Urban Operations/Covert Operations/Black Thorn

Also, for RPG get Baldur's Gate, Baldur's Gate II Shodows of Amn, the Add-on for BGII called Throne of Bhaal, Icewind Dale, the expansion Heart Of Winter and if you have broadband you can download Trials of the Luremaster for Icewind Dale..

if you own a copy of Halflife, download the Counter-Strike mod, if you don't own Halflife, then you can buy a retail version of CS for like $25. its a great great game. when it starts to get boring, move to a different server with better players. you won't be sorry, totally addicting game

Cool

Well my wife bought me Quake III - Gold this evening. It contains Quake III Arena and Quake III Team Arena. I guess I'll load it up tonight or in the morning and give it a whirl. Thanks for all of the advice I really appreciate it.

Make sure you visit www.quake3arena.com and download the 1.31 patch - you won't be able to connect to the WinDrivers server (quake3.king-nerd.com) without it.

Or, by the look of your avatar, maybe not so fresh
